Actor-Producer Arbaas Khan has confessed to involvement betting in IPL from last 6 years. This is a statement of Thane’s (Maharashtra) anti-extortion cell. According to the reports he lost nearly Rs 3 crore in betting. Arbaaz Khan said that the police have recorded his statement and he has assured them of his cooperation.
Abhishek Trimukhe, DCP (Crime), told ANI, “Six accused arrested in the cricket betting racket. Arbaaz Khan’s name came up in the case during interrogation of Sonu Jalan. Arbaaz’s statement recorded by the Police. Some new names also cropped up, and investigation is already going on against them.
During the investigation, a connection between Jalan and Arbaaz Khan established during IPL season. Arbaaz Khan brought face to face with Sonu Jalan at the police station during the interrogation.
What is IPL Board Statement about Betting
IPL commissioner Rajeev Shukla clarified that the BCCI had nothing to do with the betting scandal. The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit will cooperate with the police, he added. BCCI’s anti corruption unit said, “Cricket doesn’t get affected with any kind of betting by a Bollywood personality via a bookie until and unless a cricketer is approached, it is just an offence under the Gambling Act.”
It is not only Arbaas Khan whose name come up in IPL Betting. So many other Bollywood personalities summoned in IPL betting few years ago. But it looks so strange that financially well established personalities are involving in these kind of activities. Now will see how Arbaas will deal with all these controversies.
