Supreme Court Refused to Stay its Order on SC/ST Act

SC/ST Act:- Today (03-04-2017) Supreme Court hears the urgent plea seeking a stay on its March 20th Decision regarding SC/ST Act. The Chief Justice of India constituted a special bench to hear the petition. This bench comprised Justice AK Goel and UU Lalit, the judges who last month made the ruling on the SC/ST Act.

Supreme Court Statement on SC/ST Act:-

Today Court said “We are not against the Act. The innocent should not be punished”. Our motto is not to dilute the act. But imply some changes in it for the betterment of the country and its people. “We have not diluted any provision of the Act and only safeguarded the interest of innocents from being arrested. Provisions of the Act cannot be used to terrorize the innocents,” the court said.

On the other hand, when Court discusses the protest it said, “Protesters may not have even read its order on SC/ST Act“. Amendment in some Act doesn’t mean diluting that. Amendment in the Act is important to protect honest public servants and honest citizen of the country.

According to the Supreme Court, “Bharat Band” and violence is not the solution and way to put demands on Dalit Communities forward.

The Supreme Court had recently banned automatic arrests and registration of criminal cases under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989. According to Supreme Court “Dalit Act” is misusing for harassing “Innocent People”. On March 20th, 2018 read more….
