Dublin is facing tremendous travel disruption. Storm Emma is the prime reason for this travel disruption. The Storm Emma is getting associated with a strong wind system which is known as The Beast From The East.
The Weather System At Dublin
Dublin witnessed a heavy snowfall overnight. At times, the snowfall was about ten centimetres at some places. The bad weather has compelled the Met department to issue a red weather warning. Many roads are covered with huge accumulations due to which driving will become extremely difficult.
Bus Services Comes To A Standstill
A recent statement from Dublin Bus says that the bus services will be significantly disrupted due to poor weather conditions in Dublin. Further, Dublin Bus said the safety and security of the customers and employees are of utmost importance. That is the reason why, they have decided to put the bus services to a halt.
It is reviewing the condition and planning accordingly. It is also talking to the Met Eireann to get regular updates regarding the weather conditions.
The Status of Red Weather warning is given to several areas in Dublin. Therefore, the bus services are cancelled in those places. In areas like Kildare, Dublin, Meath, Louth, Wicklow, the bus services will not be operational till the time the situation is back to normal. Some others affected places are Cork, Athlone and the east.
Air Services Put To Hold
The Dublin Airport is no exception. Flights are cancelled due to snow clearing on the runway. Due to heavy snowfall, the road to Terminal One was closed however, it has been opened again.
Passengers are requested to check the flight information before reaching the airport. The snow and the ice teams are doing a wonderful job as they are really working hard to clear off the snow. Despite some of the flights have started to operate but there might be some delays.
The following flights are diverted from Dublin Airport to Shanon Airport. This is due to temporary close down of Dublin Airport.

- EI 100 from JFK,
- EI 136 from Boston,
- ET 504 from Addis Ababa,
- ET 500 from Addis Ababa.
Disruption In Rail And Sea Services Too
There is a limited disruption of services at Irish Railways. Although some trains are operational however, delays are expected.
Although the Irish Ferries is operational but the Swift sailings remains cancelled.
